BLESSED ASSURANCE DAILY DEVOTIONS

Where the
TRUTH of the WORD
is declared in bite size pieces!

by Charles L. Gann Sr.

One of my favorite hymns is Blessed Assurance! “This is my story, this is my song” is the reason for these Daily Devotions. Your own story can include such truths as “Jesus is mine” and “I’m an heir of salvation!” With the words of this old song in mind, I welcome you to Blessed Assurance Daily Devotions. May you be encouraged in your walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as you spend time in these bite size pieces of the Word! May these writings draw you to the Holy Scriptures and prayer so that you remain a faithful disciple and follower of Jesus in every part of your life. My prayer is that these devotions make an eternal impact on your life!

BLESSED ASSURANCE
by Fannie Jane Crosby
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Fannie J. Crosby [words], Phoebe P. Knapp [music], 1873.

  1. This word ministered to my heart today. I am striving to recognize who I am in Christ. My life has been a series of “in and out” of church. I struggle with understanding how to accept God doesn’t answer how we think He should. I’ve seen people stand on the Word. Declare their healing to the point of refusing to say they have cancer. Believing fully that they will be “raised up to declare the goodness of the Lord”. People who walk it every day. Then die anyway. I understand I have to trust the sovereignty of God. I understand that they do still receive healing. What I don’t understand is how that is supposed to work ????? I would love to hear your thoughts.

    1. Hey Brandie. My name is Valerie. I help my Dad manage his blog site Blessed Assurance Daily Devotions. We are so glad that his writings ministered to you. Your question is one that many people struggle with, including myself sometimes. Maybe Dad’s devotion called “If God Never Changes, Why Pray?” will help you. (https://blessedassurance.home.blog/2022/08/31/if-god-never-changes-why-pray-08-31-2022/) God’s character never changes, so He will never answer a prayer against His character. He is a holy God, so He will never answer a prayer against His holiness. He is a God that knows the big plan, so He will never answer our prayer that would go against the big plan. However, He is a God of love, so He is willing to answer the prayers of His children when prayed within those bounds. If He chooses not to answer the prayer, we must trust that His will is best. That is hard sometimes! And most of all, we need to realize that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Rarely does He answer prayers the way we outline them for Him. But when I look back on my life, I often thank Him that He did not answer my selfish and immature prayers. If none of this settles your question, here is what I want to say to you. Recognize who you are in Christ as His valuable daughter who He loves no matter the “in and out” behavior of the past. Get close to Him by reading His words and talking to Him everyday. Meditate on Him so that trusting Him becomes easier on the journey. Don’t judge God by the way other people pray or what they believe for or how their prayers are answered. Just let God be God even though you don’t understand! Blessings to you! Valerie Mathura
